How to Upload Multiple Collections
Create 2-5 collections simultaneously with different artwork, all in a single batch operation.
Multiple collections let you batch-create products across several different artworks and templates in one operation. Example:
Single operation creates:
- Collection 1: Design A + 8 templates = 8 products
- Collection 2: Design B + 6 templates = 6 products
- Collection 3: Design C + 10 templates = 10 products
- Total: 24 products created at once!
β Efficiency: Up to 5 collections per batch (depending on your plan). Saves time vs. creating collections one at a time.
1. Store Connection
You need at least one connected Printify or Gelato store.
2. Subscription Plan
Your plan determines how many collections you can create per batch. Advanced and Pro plans support 2-5 simultaneous collections.
3. Multiple Artwork Files
One artwork image per collection (JPG, PNG, or PDF). Plan which designs go in which collection.
Your subscription plan limits how many collections per batch:
1 Collection Per Batch
Single collection only. See How to Upload a Collection.
2-5 Collections Per Batch
Create 2-5 collections with different artwork simultaneously.
5 Collections Per Batch
Maximum 5 collections per operation for Pro users.
βΉοΈ Usage: Creating a collection counts against your monthly job limit. Each collection uses one job slot.
First, decide how many separate collections you want to create in this batch. This determines how many artworks and template selections you'll configure.
To select collection count:
- In the Collection Creator, find "Collection Setup"
- Click the number buttons: 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5
- The interface updates to show that many collection tabs
- Your selection is limited by your subscription plan
π‘ Example: Select "3" if you want to create 3 collections with 3 different designs in one batch.
For each collection, you'll configure it separately. The interface displays as a tab system where you work on one collection at a time.
For each collection tab:
- Click the Collection 1, 2, 3... tabs at the top
- Upload a different artwork for that collection
- Select templates for that collection
- Customize product settings (title, description, tags)
- Move to the next tab and repeat
Configuration flow:
Collection 1 β Artwork A + Templates [1,2,3]
β
Collection 2 β Artwork B + Templates [4,5,6]
β
Collection 3 β Artwork C + Templates [7,8,9]
β
Click "CREATE 3 COLLECTIONS"
Each collection needs its own artwork file. Upload them one at a time as you work through each tab.
To upload artwork:
- Click the current collection tab (Collection 1, 2, etc.)
- Find the "Artwork File" section
- Click the upload area or drag & drop your file
- Select a JPG, PNG, or PDF file
- Preview will show once uploaded
- Move to the next tab and repeat
β Pro tip: Use consistent artwork dimensions across collections for better visual cohesion in your store.
Each collection can have different templates. Choose which product types get your artwork.
To select templates:
- Stay on the current collection tab
- Scroll to "Browse Templates"
- Click the carousel or scroll through available templates
- Click "+ Add" on templates you want
- Selected templates appear in a list below
- Recommended: 5-10 templates per collection
- Move to the next tab and select different templates
π‘ Strategy: You can use the same templates across collections with different artwork, or mix and match. It's up to you!
Configure how products will appear for the current collection.
For each selected template:
- Title: Auto or custom (e.g., "Summer Design - T-Shirt")
- Description: Template default or your custom text
- Tags: Add search keywords
- Publish: Auto-add to store (optional)
β οΈ Important: Customize all templates in Collection 1, then move to Collection 2 and repeat. Each collection's settings apply only to that collection.
Give each collection a unique, meaningful name for record-keeping.
To set collection names:
- Scroll to "Collection Names" section
- You'll see input fields for each collection
- Enter a name for each (e.g., "Summer Red Design", "Winter Blue Design")
- Toggle "Auto" to auto-generate names from filenames (optional)
- Names are saved in your job history for reference
β Naming example:
Collection 1: "Q2 Campaign - Red Theme"
Collection 2: "Q2 Campaign - Blue Theme"
Collection 3: "Q2 Campaign - Green Theme"
Once all collections are configured, click the large "CREATE 3 COLLECTIONS" (or however many you're creating) button.
What happens:
- All artwork files are uploaded to your provider
- Products are created for each collection sequentially
- Progress bar shows overall completion (across all collections)
- Real-time updates show which collection is currently processing
- All completed products appear in your store
- Complete job record is saved to Job History
βΉοΈ Time estimate: 3 collections Γ 8 templates = 24 products typically takes 3-5 minutes.
As your collections are created, you'll see real-time progress updates for all of them combined.
Progress Display:
- Overall count: "15 / 24" (e.g., 15 products done, 24 total)
- Completion percentage across all collections
- Successful product count
- Current collection being processed
β Success:
When all products across all collections are created, the job completes and shows final statistics.
βΈοΈ Rate Limit Paused:
If rate limits are hit, the entire batch pauses. Resume manually or enable Auto Resume to continue all collections.
- Plan ahead: Decide which artworks go in which collections before starting.
- Balanced templates: Try to use similar numbers of templates per collection (e.g., 8, 8, 8) to balance workload.
- Template reuse: You can safely use the same templates across different collections with different artwork.
- Naming consistency: Use a consistent naming pattern to easily identify collections in Job History.
- Check subscription usage: Each collection counts as 1 job toward your monthly limit.
- Enable Auto Resume: If rate limits are hit, Auto Resume will continue all collections automatically.
Creating multiple collections uses more API calls, which can trigger rate limits. Here's how we keep you safe:
Conservative Template Limits
8 templates max per collection (Printify) ensures each batch stays well under API limits even with 5 collections running.
Automatic Pause & Resume
If you hit a rate limit, all collections pause. Resume automatically or manually continue.
Detailed Documentation
See Collection Creator Limits and Gelato API Constraints for detailed rate limit info.
β Check Your Store
All 24+ products (from 3 collections Γ 8 templates) appear in your Printify or Gelato store automatically.
β Review Job History
Go to Job History to see the complete job record with all collection details, product IDs, and API usage.
β Edit as Needed
Fine-tune individual product pricing, descriptions, and images directly in your provider's dashboard.
β "Can only create 1 collection"
Your plan (Starter) only supports 1 collection per batch. Upgrade to Advanced or Pro to create multiple collections.
β "Collection 2 and 3 buttons are missing"
You may have selected "2 collections" instead of "3". Check the number buttons in "Collection Setup" and click the right count.
β "Rate limit hit on Collection 2"
All collections pause together. Click Resume or enable Auto Resume to continue all remaining collections.
β "One collection failed, others succeeded"
Check Job History for details on which collection failed and why. Individual collection failures don't stop the others.
With multiple collections, you can now create 10-50+ products in a single operation. Perfect for:
- Seasonal campaigns with multiple design themes
- Bulk onboarding of customer designs
- Testing multiple artwork variations
- Building a diverse product catalog quickly
