How to Upload a Collection
Step-by-step guide to creating a single collection with multiple product templates using the Collection Creator.
A collection is a batch of products created from a single artwork image across multiple product templates. For example:
- 1 artwork image (e.g., your custom design)
- Applied to 5-10 different templates (e.g., t-shirts, hoodies, mugs)
- Creates 5-10 products automatically with the same design on different items
Before you can create collections, you need to connect your print provider account (Printify or Gelato).
To connect your store:
- Go to Connections in the navigation menu
- Click "Add Printify Connection" or "Add Gelato Connection"
- Enter your Store ID and API Key from your provider's dashboard
- Click Verify to confirm the connection

Your artwork is the design that will be applied to all templates in the collection.
Artwork requirements:
- Formats: JPG, PNG, or PDF
- Resolution: 300 DPI or higher for best quality
- File size: Under 50 MB
- Dimensions: Match your design requirements (consult provider specs)
✓ Pro tip: Use a single high-quality artwork file. The Collection Creator will automatically optimize it for all templates.
Templates are the product types (t-shirts, hoodies, mugs, etc.) from your store. Select the ones where you want your artwork applied.
How to select templates:
- Click "Browse Templates" to see available products
- Scroll through the carousel to find templates you want
- Click "+ Add" on each template you want to include
- Your selected templates appear below the carousel
- Recommended: 5-10 templates per collection
ℹ️ Limit: Maximum 8 templates per collection (Printify) or 10+ (Gelato). This ensures your job completes reliably without hitting API rate limits.
Configure how each product will appear in your store.
For each template, you can set:
- Product Title: Auto-generated from filename or custom
- Description: Use template default or write custom text
- Tags: Add keywords for search and organization
- Publish: Automatically add to your store (optional)
✓ Efficiency: Set one template's details, then copy to all others by adjusting title patterns or tags.
Give your collection a meaningful name for future reference.
Collection name examples:
- "Summer 2025 Designs"
- "Custom Artwork - Blue Theme"
- "Client ABC Brand Launch"
The name is stored for your records and appears in job history, but isn't used in your store.
Once all settings are configured, click the "CREATE COLLECTION" button to start the process.
What happens next:
- Your artwork is uploaded to the provider
- Products are created for each template sequentially
- A progress bar shows real-time creation status
- Completed products appear in your store immediately
- Job details are saved in your Job History
⏱️ Time estimate: 5-10 templates typically takes 1-2 minutes depending on your provider's speed.
The Collection Creator displays real-time progress as your products are created.
Progress Bar Shows:
- Products created so far (e.g., "5 / 10")
- Completion percentage
- Successful creation count
- Any errors encountered
✓ Success:
When all products are created, you'll see a success message and the job is complete.
⏸️ Rate Limit Paused:
If your provider's rate limit is hit, the job pauses automatically. You can resume manually or enable "Auto Resume" to continue automatically.
✓ Check Your Store
Log into your Printify or Gelato dashboard. The newly created products will appear in your store automatically (if "Publish" was enabled).
✓ View Job History
Go to Job History to see details, completed product IDs, and API usage metrics for your collection job.
✓ Fine-tune Products
Edit product details directly in your provider's dashboard (pricing, descriptions, images, etc.).
❌ "No Connection Selected"
You must select a connected store first. Go to Connections and add a Printify or Gelato account.
❌ "No Templates Selected"
Click "Browse Templates" and add at least one template to your collection before creating.
❌ "Rate Limit Hit"
Your job paused due to provider rate limits. Wait a few minutes, then click Resume. You can enable Auto Resume to continue automatically.
❌ "Upload Failed"
Check your artwork file size (under 50 MB) and format (JPG, PNG, PDF). If the issue persists, contact support.
